Balancing Stillness and Movement: A Yin/Vin Workshop

This workshop will begin with a yin practice to cultivate stillness, surrender and a balancing of our physical, energetic and mental/emotional experience.  From this quiet depth, we will then evolve into a mixed-level vinyasa practice, designed to ground, strengthen and allow fluid movement through the entire system.   Students will deepen into stillness and quiet, then experience greater accessibility and depth in their movement- based practice.

Pre-registration is required; please contact me directly to do so.

Introduction to Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to more dynamic, heat-producing and fast-paced ways of practicing yoga (and living!). In a yin yoga practice, we emphasize quiet, longer-maintained poses, stillness and an inward focus. This practice targets the connective tissues in the body and helps promote healthy, well-lubricated joints. A yin practice also promotes balancing and healing throughout the more subtle layers of our being.

This workshop offers an introductory discussion of yin yoga, an all-levels yin yoga practice, and an experience of deep quiet and stillness that is a perfect counterpart to our often busy lives and minds.

Take your yoga practice on an inward journey, quieting the body and mind to encourage expansion at every level of your being! Delve into this deeply healing practice that is Yin Yoga.

On a physical level, we learn to relax muscles while targeting the deeper connective tissues in the body through slow-moving and long-held yoga poses. On an energetic level, these poses pressurize the body’s organ meridians to cleanse and purify, facilitating the flow of Chi, our vital life force. On an mental/emotional level, we practice letting go and connecting to our heart center coming into stillness to find peace within.

This is a wonderful way to spend a late fall evening!
